KUNG FU WUSHU MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR PROGRAMS

Listed below are the programs available to instructors and aspiring instructors. An evaluation assessment is done for those with prior training experience to qualify under the International Duan regulations – Recognition of Prior Learning.

Obtain an Instructors Certification & Practicing License on Completion of each level of the course.  Join the listed ranks of the World Organisation Wushu Kung Fu Master Accreditation and the International Health Qigong Federation.

IKLWC instructor. Upon taking the international duan exam you will be listed among the world ranked instructors in Kung Fu and/or Wushu. Instructor internship will be given to all IKLWC Branch Instructors.

Hours needed by you;

Friday @ 5.30 to 7.30 pm – private training

Saturday @ 10.00 till 2 pm – working on what you have been taught.

In considering training hours one needs to consider hours needed for additional add-on programs.

Own club, school or center. Obtain credentials based on your own style with us.

Besides training and accrediting our own IKLWC members; we are able to assist clubs, schools, centers in South Africa and Africa to gain credentials that will rank among the world best; regardless of style or system taught. No need to travel to China or Hong Kong. Save on costs and get your credentials and training in SA.

INSTRUCTOR STYLE CHOICES

Listed are the programs/styles available to instructors and aspiring instructors. The Kung Fu/Wushu programs start with the 3 year program of duan levels 1 to 3 and then move onto the 5 year program to obtain duan 4 to 6. Each style has its specific requirements as listed.

1. Shaolin Kung Fu
Referred to as the foundation system. Characteristics are short and long range applications, grappling, trapping, locking, acupoint techniques and weapons. Synonymous with animal patterns and Shaolin monks.

2. Sanda
A free or loose fighting system. Uses all techniques as in Shaolin. No weapons but very effective and practical in management of body potential and awareness; can be competitive or non-competitive.

3. Wing Chun/Yong Chun
Derivative of Shaolin and Taiji; its main focus is defined by short, close defensive applications and has a fundamental defence on centre line attack. Renowned for its use of Qi Gong as an integral part this knowledge system.

Rated as the ultimate Shaolin & Qi Gong movement system – the training enhances hidden potential and allows its logical use in relation to everyday movement, awareness, interaction and mental balance.

IKLWC has 2 Qigong instructor programs. The Daoist program focuses mainly on the authentic ancient knowledge systems. Both are enhanced with traditional Chinese medicine, philosophy and Chinese culture knowledge.

6. Health Qigong
IKLWC has 2 Qigong instructor programs. Health Qigong is an excellent elementary access for new students. Designed for those with limited and no experience prior to embarking upon Daoist qigong.

Level 1 – complete 16hrs (Liu Zi Jue),

Level 3 – complete 16hrs (Liu Zi Jue, Ba Duan Jin, Yi Jin Jing)

Merit: SAHQA National Instructor Certificate, proceed to train toward International duan levels.

The International Health Qigong Duans are classified into categories as Pre-Duans, Duan grades and Honorary Duans:

Junior Duans:  1, 2 and 3

Intermediate Duans: 4, 5 and 6

Senior Duans:  7, 8 and 9

Below are details and costs to proceed with training toward becoming an instructor of either of the styles listed above. Choose your style as listed above to start. Recognition of prior learning is taken into account as is done on an individual assessment basis.

IKLWC has a Recognition of Prior Learning in place and is held solely at the discretion and according to the mandated criteria of SAHQA/IKLWC. Ranking levels determine the grading of Martial Arts knowledge and the ability of the practitioner and or instructor. Blue sash allows the IKLWC student to opt in to start training as an instructor.

    • Grading fees are charged on completion of each level within each program.
    • Internationally accredited membership, License instructor & Duan Recognition . – World organization of  Wushu Kung fu Masters. This will be done according to Shifu discretion.
    • Monthly 30 % commission is paid to ILKWC Headquarters & contract sign by both parties
    • Annual Instructor License fee to operate under the name of IKLWC – R5000
    • An escalation of 10 %  increase per year and subject to change according to our own discretion
Add On: Die Da Sun Shang

An integrated Chinese martial art, Chinese medicine and health preservation. Learning to incapacitate a joint can in turn be utilised to heal and recuperate using Die Da (Bonesetting) and Tui Na. This is an add-on program.

6 Months SAHQA
The South African Health Qigong Duans are classified into categories as Chih’s. Chih Levels

  • Level 1 – complete 16hrs (Liu Zi Jue),
  • Level 2 – complete 16hrs (Liu Zi Jue, Ba Duan Jin),
  • Level 3 – complete 16hrs (Liu Zi Jue, Ba Duan Jin, Yi Jin Jing)
  • Cost – R800 per Level

Merit: SAHQA National Instructor Certificate, proceed to train toward International duan levels.

6 months - Exam Levels
The South African Health Qigong Duans are classified into categories as Chih’s. Chih Level Exams:

  • Chih 1 – Liu Zi Jue
  • Chih 2 – Liu Zi Jue, Ba Duan Jin (Chih 1 to qualify)
  • Chih 3 – Liu Zi Jue, Ba Duan Jin, Yi Jin Jing (Chih 2 to qualify)
  • Exam – R300 per Chih

Merit: SAHQA National Instructor Certificate, proceed to train toward International duan levels.  

IHQF - Int. Duan Levels

The International Health Qigong Duans are classified into categories as Pre-Duans, Duan grades and Honorary Duans:

  • Pre-Duans: 1, 2 and 3
  • Junior Duans: 1, 2 and 3
  • Intermediate Duans: 4, 5 and 6
  • Senior Duans: 7, 8 and 9
  • Honorary Intermediate Duans: 4, 5 and 6
  • Honorary Senior Duans: 7, 8 and 9
  • Overseas duan & exam places
CPD Criterea
The South African Health Qigong Association mandates to support standards and safety of the public. This is done through ongoing training to assist the development of instructor support and standards locally. Instructor Obligations – Continuing Progress Development, CPD Criteria 80 CPD points per year – Continuing Progress Development – CPD. 80 Points is to be acquired per year for each Chih Level by attending Seminars, Workshops and Classes so that the  Instructors Certificates stays valid for instructor teaching obligations. Once Chih Level has been completed the International IHQF Pre Duan, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Duan will followed thereafter yet the CPD Point System will be applied throughout.

INTENSIVE SHORT STAY PROGRAM

IKLWC has a Recognition of Prior Learning in place and is held solely at the discretion and according to the mandated criteria of SAHQA/IKLWC. Ranking levels determine the grading of Martial Arts knowledge and the ability of the practitioner and or instructor. 

A short stay program is made available to the travelling trainer needing to expand knowledge or obtain credentials. A minimum of 2.5 years training experience is required prior considering the undertaking. To fully enter any program one needs to undertake an evaluation assessment (a chargeable service) under Dr. Jeff Lan; prior commencement of any training.

Hours needed by you;

A minimum of 4 to 8 hours per day will be required. This will vary and is determined by the days and the level of expertise needed.

In considering training hours one needs to consider hours needed for additional add-on programs.

Each program itinerary is custom designed around the players needs and will be determined by each application, credentials and requirements.

If the need is purely for credential obtaining then the criteria for the World Organization of Wushu/Kung Fu Master; listed below should be read and understood.

Should any of the criteria fall short we will advise a way forward to acquire the needed skills as well as advise on time frames to obtain the levels to obtain these credentials.

World Organization of Wushu/Kungfu Master

Shifu Jeff Lan & IKLWC is the Representative  of World Organization of Wushu/Kungfu Master based in China for South Africa & Africa continent under the supervision of Shifu Liang Dongsheng a Duan 10 Grandmaster.

Requirements

To determine the grading of Martial Arts knowledge and the ability of the practitioner, the following will apply:

NB: Kung Fu is also referred to as Gong Fu in this document.

  1. The practitioner has to advance through the following levels:

Chih level: Chih 1 Chih 2 Chih 3 – Becoming a Trainee Instructor for Yong Chun, Taiji, Sanda & Qigong Chih 4 –  Becoming a trainee Instructor for Shaolin Duan Ranking: Junior instructor Duan 1 – 3, Senior instructor Duan 4 – 5, Chief Instructor Duan 6, Master Duan 7 –  8, Grand Master Duan 9 – 10

  1. Checking one’s knowledge of Chinese Traditional Culture.
  2. Understanding of Theoritical Similarity & actual practicing difference in Traditional Gong fu
  3. Mastery of Gong fu, Taiji & Classical Qigong Techniques
  4. Quan skills
  5. Weapon skills
  6. Method for Health keeping & life Preserving
  7. Wushu & Health Qigong skills
  8. Understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine e.g Tui na , Die da ke , Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs
  9. Chinese Philosophy & Daoist Philosophy
  10. Lion & Dragon dance skills
  11. Honorary Duan may be awarded to individuals who have made important  contributions to the development of Chinese Wushu/Kungfu , Qigong , philosophy, culture , promotion and further development of IKLWC

There will be a Grading Examination every year for the Trainee , Junior and  junior  instructor. And thereafter all Duan Grading assessment will be done only from Shifu requirement according to the year stipulated. But Shifu will request that all instructors regardless of their level to be assessed yearly just to ensure you are up to date with your training and your teaching is done correctly, so a nominal fee will be charged compare to the normal Grading fee at Shifu’s  own discretion.

If you fail either your Chih or Duan grading, you are allowed to try again until you pass it . Or if you are not ready yet again  then you must only request to Shifu to do the normal yearly Assessment  which is compulsory for every instructors to do regardless.

  Any instructors who wish to further their  Duan Grading  Assessment  must speak to Shifu personally to see if you are qualify for it. To become certify Qi gong instructors one must speak personally to Shifu only if you are advance in the Qi gong practice , philosophy and  its principles & be able to show the four Jing: Ting jing- Listening  Energy, Dong jing- Understanding Energy , Hua jing – Neutralizing Energy and Fa jing- Issuing/ Attacking Energy  & Sa fang –  exerting strength & throw opponent off balance energy  into Action practically. Understanding  the Microcosmic and Macrocosmic Energy balance  within Heaven and Earth.

IKLWC & Shifu Jeff Lan is the Representative  of World Organization of Wushu/Kungfu Master  based in China  for South Africa & Africa continent under the supervision of Shifu Liang dongsheng a Duan 10 Grandmaster  . Shifu has been certified  by the  Organization of Duan 9 and given the recognition of International Master.

The Standard requirement  to become an International Recognize Instructor  to Master is :

Standard – Ranking at  Duan 5 is the Coach or Instructor, Duan 6 or above Master.  Follow the instructions  , pay attention to the order of fellow  students at their kungfu .

Ranking methods and requirement :

Instructor :

You are granted 40 base points. For every year of Wushu/Kungfu experience add 1 point.

Accomplishments :

You have written any Wushu/ Kungfu books or articles , or received international awards  and recognition add 10 points

Contributions :

You contribute to Wushu/ Kungfu programs or you use Wushu/ Kungfu to make a contribution to society , or your students have international accomplishments or recognition  add 10 points

Additional factors :

The organization ranking committee  will consider additional factors and may grant additional points to a maximum of 10 points

Duan :

Duan 1 – Duan 5 : Need to demonstrate  one fist form, one weapon form and answer questions on Technique and Theory the ranking Committee ask.

Duan 6 – 60-69 points

Duan 7 – 70-79 points

Duan 8 -80-89 points

Duan 9 -90-99 points

Duan 10 – 100 points – Highest Honour

Toapply for Duan6 or above does not require a test but needs   point

For Duan 8 through Duan 10 the rank is granted after an evaluation made by the Organization ranking committee.

  1. Participation in club organized classes can earn credit point towards Duan progression. Please note the date of club classes.

Membership application and applying for the International  Instructor’s Duan can be done only through Shifu or Shimo

Membership fee per year or Permanent membership fee should be paid , Duan exam fee must be paid when applying for the Duan exam

Judgement of a Duan :

Is based on the provided relevant proof . The organization will decide the ranking which may be different than the Duan applied for. The decision of the organization is final and will be no refund of the application fee for any dispute.
